BOX SCORE GAME ONE

BOX SCORE GAME TWO

MANSFIELD--The Bloomsburg University softball team got back-to-back shutouts in a sweep of Mansfield University on Thursday by scores of 10-0 and 3-0.

In game one, pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) allowed just three hits and struck out 12 to earn her 17th win of the season. Bloomsburg was leading 1-0 in the fifth inning when the Huskies broke the game open with six runs. The big hits in the inning came from catcher Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Mifflinburg), who had a two-run single, and designated player Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton) who blasted a two-run homer.

The Huskies added three more runs in the sixth with Corliss getting an RBI single and Jess Rosin (Brooklyn/James Madison) a two-run double.

In all, four players had two hits each with Corliss and Krupiewski each driving in four runs.

In the nightcap, Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) did one better than her teammate Lynn allowing just two hits, while fanning nine and not walking a batter. Fisher gave up just a second inning double and a seventh inning single in getting her 10th win of the season.

Offensively the Huskies scored once in the first inning on a lead-off homer from Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport); then added two more runs in the second with Reed doubling home both runs.

Reed finished 3-4 in the game with a run scored and three RBI.

Bloomsburg goes to 31-10, 17-5 in the PSAC East. The wins also push coach Jan Hutchinson's career win total between field hockey and softball to 1,597 wins as she nears yet another milestone.

The Huskies visit East Stroudsburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the regular season finale.
